Experience the Power of Music and Art at AHACON23: Unforgettable Performances Await! Peter Bjork TheHumanist.com

Are you ready for the biggest humanist event since pre-pandemic times? The American Humanist Association’s 82nd Annual Conference is just around the corner! The AHA staff is making last-minute preparations, packing everything up, and getting ready to head to beautiful Denver, Colorado for AHACON23, Crossroads and Collective Futures. We’re working hard to make this event unforgettable, with a host of vibrant and exciting sessions and panels, as well as incredible live performances and art experiences that will leave you feeling inspired and energized.

We are thrilled to announce that Lenny Harold, the legendary R&B singer who wowed audiences at last year’s virtual conference, will be joining us once again. With twice being signed to record labels before joining the iconic R&B group Blackstreet, led by New Jack Swing creator, Teddy Riley, Lenny’s experience and talent is unmatched.  Those five years amongst greats gave him the opportunity to harness the power of his voice and talent. This experience opened Lenny’s eyes to “tour life” and gave him legendary training to detail his own artistry, always giving that old-school showmanship that is timeless entertainment. That showmanship is what has kept Lenny on the radar of many music lovers, from his winning tenure on Showtime at The Apollo (under old moniker Chanj) to his ovation grabbing tributes to Patti Labelle and Berry Gordy in the years following. Lenny’s striking tenor range, tone, and smooth vibrato has even turned many of today’s industry heavyweights into fans, from the likes of Marsha Ambrosius to Jamie Foxx. Lenny is prepping his second album, Warrior, the follow-up to his previous Mountain High. Its first single “Check On Me” will be released on June 10th.

But that’s not all! We’re also excited to feature the talented Lyndsey Wilson, a singer-songwriter from New York City with a flair for nostalgia and conscious lyrics. You may have seen her on episodes of Ethics Unplugged, a series from the New York Society for Ethical Culture. She will join Jé Exodus Hooper and Nori Rost for the Conference’s own version of Ethics Unplugged on the Sunday morning of the Conference and attendees will also hear her in concert. Lyndsey is a brings a flair for nostalgia with her memorable mix of 70’s style urban folk rock and conscious lyrics. Throughout her musical career, she has embraced issues of the heart and mind within her original music. Love songs, protest tunes, and lyrics of empowerment have all been a true representation of her style and sensibilities. Her songs “Stand for the People” and “People Shall Rise” have caught the attention of culturally diverse audiences throughout the country. Lindsey’s influences stem from a myriad of musically conscious voices such as Odetta, Richie Havens, Joni Mitchell, and Joan Armatrading, however, Lindsey’s message is truly her own.

In addition to the incredible performances, we encourage attendees to channel their own creativity and join us in the Art Room at the Conference. Take a break from the sessions and networking to explore your own artistic expression and create something truly wonderful. We’ll even be showcasing attendee art from the previous two days on Sunday from the Conference mainstage.

If you are a humanist or someone who believes in the power of reason and empathy to make the world a better place, you won’t want to miss this conference. AHACON23, Crossroads and Collective Futures, is not just any conference, but a gathering of some of the most brilliant and forward-thinking minds in the humanist movement. From engaging panel discussions to inspiring performances and art experiences, this event will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to connect, learn, and be inspired to make positive change in the world. All of these reasons and more make AHACON23, Crossroads and Collective Futures a must-attend event for anyone interested in humanism. Don’t miss out on this chance to be a part of something truly special and join us for AHACON23.

Whether you’re joining us in person or online, there’s still time for you to register for the Conference and be a part of this incredible event. We’re counting down the days and hope to see you there!
