Read More Atheist Republic Britney Spears, the 90s princess of pop, declared that she no longer believes in a god. “I’m an atheist, y’all (you all),” she said in an audio recording uploaded on Youtube.
Britney’s comment came after 60 Minute Australia’s interview with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. In the audio, the singer-songwriter went on a tirade against her family and the trauma she received from how they treated her.
Britney also spoke about her son Jayden whom she accuses of being hateful towards her.
The pop star accused her son of “undermining” her with statements like “I hope she gets better” and “I’ll pray for her.” Britney responded menacingly, “pray for what?”
“Do you guys want me to get better so I can continue giving your dad (Kevin Federline) 40 grand ($40,000.00) a month,” she asked.
“Or is the reason behind you guys deciding to be hateful is because it is actually over in two years, and you don’t get anything,” Britney said.
Britney added that her son, Jayden, secretly loved “looking at me as if something is wrong with me,” she said.
In 2008, Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, was granted control over her finances after a series of public incidents raised concerns over her mental health. The behaviors followed the pop star’s divorce from Kevin Federline in 2007.
Last year, the court decided to end the conservatorship. Judge Brenda Penny of the Los Angeles Superior Court ruled that Jamie’s control over Britney’s personal and financial affairs is “no longer required, effective immediately.”
In the interview with 60 Minutes Australia, Jayden believed his grandfather, Jamie Spears, had good intentions for the conservatorship. “I think he was just trying to be like any father,” Jaden said.
“I think some people are seizing to realize how much he cares about her,” Jayden said about his grandfather’s conservatorship.
But Britney’s view on the entire conservatorship runs steeply in the opposite direction. Britney believed she should not have suffered losing the ability to make her own decisions for 13 years.
“It saddens me [that] none of you has valued me as a person,” Britney said.
“God would not allow that to happen to me if a god existed,” she added.
“I don’t believe in god anymore because of the way my children and my family have treated me, and there is nothing to believe anymore,” Britney said.
